Overview

In this Principal role, you apply expert hydrogeology and modelling to lead complex contaminated land and groundwater projects. You will shape modelling strategy, review technical work, and support risk-based decisions across energy, infrastructure and regulated sites. Expect to mentor colleagues and influence service development while travelling to UK offices and sites. Your work protects groundwater resources and guides remediation outcomes within a collaborative, growth-focused team.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead on demanding contaminated land, hydrogeology and groundwater modelling projects
• Provide technical review and quality assurance of modelling and reports
• Design ground and hydrogeological investigations and develop/consolidate conceptual, analytical and numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport models
• Prepare and review hydrogeological risk assessments and contaminated land reports
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to service development and team growth
• Support risk-based decision-making across a varied portfolio
• Liaise with regulators and clients on technical matters
• Travel to UK offices and project sites to support delivery

Key requirements

• Significant experience in hydrogeology, contaminated land assessment, groundwater risk assessment and environmental consultancy
• Demonstrable capability in conceptual site model development and groundwater modelling
• Experience with interpreting complex chemical and geological datasets
• Ability to communicate complex findings to clients, regulators, and project teams
• Professional judgement in high-consequence work and collaborative technical leadership
