Project Quantity Surveyor – Water Sector

Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor in Arcadis’ Cost & Commercial Management team, you will support resilience-focused water sector projects in Reading, London, and surrounding areas. You will help manage costs, contracts, and commercial risk to deliver sustainable outcomes for clients and communities. You’ll collaborate with project teams to drive value, optimise costs, and ensure robust financial governance. This role offers exposure to large-scale infrastructure in a mission-driven, climate-conscious environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer post-contract NEC contract processes, including changes and payments
• Liaise with external contractors and consultants
• Support clients with accurate cost data and financial forecasts
• Provide commercial guidance through gateways to minimise cost/scope changes
• Assist with pre-contract activities including estimating and procurement
• Support risk and opportunity management, validating project efficiency costs
• Participate in lessons learned and risk/value management meetings
• Audit and agree Final Accounts

Key requirements

• NEC contract experience
• Experience in cost and commercial management within a consultancy setting
• Ability to learn and develop, manage priorities under pressure
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence stakeholders
• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (ideally
• MRICS or working towards chartership (desirable)
• Experience in water and wastewater or regulated industries (desirable)
• Ability to support junior staff on projects (£1m–£20m)
• Hybrid working with client travel between London and Reading areas
