Overview

In this role you ensure public health grant funding is used compliantly and transparently to support the council’s health vision. You will interpret complex grant conditions, lead assurance activity and advise service teams across Public Health, Trading Standards and Road Safety. Your work focuses on governance, risk management and robust evidence to underpin audit and inspection processes. This is a high-impact, specialist function with a clear opportunity to strengthen grant governance across the directorate.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME on public health grant conditions and translate guidance into local practice
• Design and deliver a programme of compliance reviews, audits and assurance activity
• Identify and manage financial and governance risks with timely corrective action
• Provide expert advice to services across Public Health, Trading Standards and Road Safety
• Support audit and inspection processes with robust evidence and assurance
• Contribute to LGR readiness by ensuring compliant systems are robust and transferable

Key requirements
