Quality Assurance Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead the QA function at Sulzer’s Leeds facility, guiding a quality team and the global supplier network to uphold customer confidence and compliance. You will develop quality strategies, supervise ITPs, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing, operations and engineering interfaces. You will investigate quality issues, implement robust CAPA, and support customer inspections and witness tests. This role offers exposure to large engineered equipment and high regulatory expectations within energy, water and renewables sectors. You will shape the QA agenda and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality functions for the Leeds manufacturing facility
• Develop and maintain quality strategies, policies and procedures aligned with business objectives
• Manage and develop a high performing Quality and Supplier Quality team
• Drive supplier quality performance across a large and diverse global supply chain
• Ensure robust quality planning through Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
• Lead investigations into quality issues, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions
• Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Procurement and Project Management teams to deliver customer requirements
• Oversee auditing activities, compliance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure the effective application of inspection and testing methodologies, including NDT requirements where applicable
• Support customer inspections, witness testing and quality reviews

Key requirements

• Proven Quality Assurance leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
• Strong supplier quality management experience
• Knowledge of fabrication, machining and assembly processes
• Experience developing and managing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
• Understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills
• Ability to influence both operational teams and external suppliers
