Senior Electrical Supervisor

Overview

In this role you will lead Street Lighting operations across North Yorkshire, aligning delivery with safety, quality and environmental standards. You’ll steer supervisors and teams, manage depots and works programmes, and collaborate with clients and partners to maintain and upgrade essential street lighting infrastructure. You will shape service delivery and develop teams while upholding high safety and compliance standards. This is a strategic leadership position with scope to influence performance and meeting regional infrastructure goals. You will work in a collaborative, safety-focused environment that values continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead Street Lighting Supervisors, Operatives and supply chain partners
• Plan, coordinate and oversee works programmes for safe and high-quality delivery
• Oversee health, safety, quality and environmental performance across operations
• Manage the Street Lighting depot and stores function
• Develop and maintain safe systems of work, risk assessments and HSE plans
• Monitor programme performance, expenditure and resource allocation
• Lead performance management, coaching, mentoring and staff development
• Act as HEA QS/AO and support competency standards
• Oversee electrical infrastructure projects including EV charger installations and ICP activities
• Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, contractors and industry partners

Key requirements

• HNC in Electrical Engineering, NVQ or equivalent qualification
• SSSTS qualification
• Minimum five years’ supervisor-level electrical engineering experience
• Member of ILP or equivalent
• Up-to-date HEA portfolio
• Strong knowledge of QA processes and electrical standards
• Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and practical application
• Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills
• Evidence-based decision making and problem-solving abilities
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
