Data Scientist

Overview

In this role you will enable data-driven decisions across underwriting and non-underwriting areas, shaping the data and AI roadmap with a cross-functional team. You’ll apply AI/ML techniques to deliver business impact while promoting data literacy and robust development practices. The position offers flexibility in working patterns and a collaborative, growth-focused culture. You’ll be at the forefront of Zurich’s data and AI journey, translating complex data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Drive data-led decision-making by translating stakeholder needs into data/AI solutions
• Support strategy setting for activities using data and AI, outlining feasible capabilities
• Develop and deploy AI/ML solutions to automate manual tasks and handle structured/unstructured data
• Promote an automation-first mindset and tell data-driven narratives to stakeholders
• Ensure high standards of code development and PR processes
• Collaborate with local and global teams to share knowledge and enhance analytics capabilities

Key requirements

• Strong analytical and interdisciplinary thinking; able to solve complex, ambiguous problems
• Proficient in Python and Git with modern software development practices
• Experience with SQL, databases, and large datasets; comfortable with Spark or distributed computing
• Experience with LLMs in a commercial setting; monitor and manage LLM-based apps for performance
• Cloud experience (Azure and/or AWS)
• Proven track record in developing and deploying ML algorithms (supervised/unsupervised)
• Excellent collaboration, organization, and communication skills; able to convey value to non-experts
• Practical mindset for delivering business outcomes in uncertain contexts
• Ability to connect disparate data sources and see the bigger picture
