Overview

In this role you will lead asset-specific payer evidence strategies to strengthen BioMarin’s access and value proposition across therapeutic areas. You will shape patient-relevant outcomes requirements within clinical programs and align them with Regulatory, HTA, and access needs. You will partner with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to design, execute, and communicate outcomes research that differentiates BioMarin assets in the market. This position offers a chance to influence early access decisions and publish impactful research, contributing to patient access for rare diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, execution and communication of payer evidence strategies aligned with brand priorities for early-stage assets
  • Collaborate with Value & Access, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs and Patient Advocacy organizations
  • Drive understanding of payer and HTA requirements related to patient-relevant outcomes and health utility measurement
  • Oversee asset-specific patient-relevant outcomes strategies informed by disease models
  • Lead patient-relevant endpoint planning and trial implementation oversight
  • Lead early Joint Clinical Assessment strategy development across markets
  • Identify payer evidence gaps and inform integrated evidence planning for pipeline assets
  • Manage external partnerships for PRO development, health state valuation, and patient preference research
  • Lead scientific interactions with HTA agencies (EU HTA JSC, NICE, CADTH) including briefing materials and evidence packages
  • Support regulatory and patient advocacy interactions and communicate value through integrated evidence plans
  • Shape exploration and interpretation of trial outcomes data to strengthen HTA and payer value propositions
  • Develop strategic scientific communications and publish research in peer-reviewed journals
  • Assess BD opportunities against payer/HTA requirements to identify risks and gaps
  • In partnership with IET, analyze patient-relevant outcomes data to generate insights for stakeholders

Key requirements

  • 12+ years in pharma with 7+ years in HEOR or related roles
  • 5+ years direct experience with patient-relevant outcomes research
  • Advanced degree in health economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, public health, health services research, pharmacy or related field
  • Deep understanding of market access, value and global HTA frameworks
  • Proven experience developing and executing patient-relevant outcomes strategies
  • Experience in evaluation, development, and validation of PRO measures for regulatory, payer, and HTA decision making
  • Experience supporting HTA submissions, value dossiers, and patient-relevant briefing books
  • Proven ability to influence across senior cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives in a fast-paced environment
  • Leadership experience and external visibility in the PRO field
  • Experience engaging with HTA agencies, payers, health economists, experts, and patient organizations
  • Rare disease experience preferred
