Group Finance Controller

Overview

As Group Financial Controller, you will lead the UK-based finance function to modernise and streamline processes while ensuring accurate, timely reporting. You will partner with senior management to provide strategic financial insight, drive efficiency, and strengthen governance. The role covers VAT, audits, cashflow forecasting, and production of financial statements in line with regulatory standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement modern practices and technology that boost productivity. Responsibilities

• Modernise the accounts team and adopt modern accounting practices and technology to boost productivity
• Oversee timely production of management reports to support decision-making
• Lead finance staff planning, staffing levels, and foster a productive, collaborative environment
• Ensure timely month-end processes, reconciliations, and reporting
• Coordinate with auditors and provide necessary financial data during audits
• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns accurately and on time
• Oversee stock movement reconciliation and accurate inventory accounting
• Develop and maintain cashflow forecasting models for planning
• Provide expert financial advice to senior management for strategic decisions
• Ensure accurate financial statements and adherence to accounting standards
• Monitor compliance with financial regulations and internal policies
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Finance (or related field)
• Proven experience as Finance Director or similar senior role
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate a finance team
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• In-depth understanding of financial regulations and accounting principles
