About the Role
We are looking for a caring and reliable female Personal Assistant to support a 16-year-old girl who has a rare genetic condition called HNRNPH2. The role involves providing support at home and enabling access to social and leisure activities within the community. She has a wonderful personality, is non-verbal, and uses a wheelchair. She enjoys music, trips to the park, books, baking, and messy play activities. She does not enjoy loud noises or overcrowded environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting the development of independent living skills
- Assisting with personal care, including showering, toileting, and changing continence pads
- Supporting with moving and handling, including lifting and hoisting (essential)
- Escorting and supporting her during community outings and events
- Encouraging participation in social and leisure activities
- Providing appropriate supervision and ensuring her safety and wellbeing
Person Specification
The successful applicant will:
- Have experience supporting people with physical disabilities and additional needs
- Be confident providing personal care
- Have experience using hoists and undertaking moving and handling tasks
- Be reliable, patient, and compassionate
- Preferably hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle
Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
