Overview

As Pre-Construction Engineer (Electrical), you steer electrical scope and technical due diligence before projects reach site. You bridge engineering, commercial and operations to convert client requirements into buildable, cost-aware tenders. You own the pre-construction process, identify risks and close scope gaps to set projects up for successful delivery. You’ll work on grid-connected renewables like BESS and solar PV, contributing to a growing front-end capability and meaningful impact on project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Review Employer’s Requirements, specifications and grid connection docs to identify compliance needs and risks
  • Produce compliance and deviation schedules
  • Manage technical queries through tender process
  • Develop electrical scopes for HV/LV, protection, auxiliary systems, earthing, containment, cables and control systems
  • Perform quantity take-offs and support cost build-ups
  • Collaborate with commercial teams for pricing and value engineering
  • Develop subcontract electrical scopes and define testing, commissioning, and quality requirements
  • Create responsibility matrices for supply, installation, testing and commissioning
  • Identify interfaces between civil, electrical and commissioning activities
  • Assess quotations for like-for-like comparisons
  • Lead technical handovers to delivery teams post-award
  • Communicate contractual technical requirements and risks to Project Managers
  • Support clarification needs around tender assumptions
  • Ensure tenders are technically robust and commercially viable

Key requirements

  • strong electrical engineering background
  • experience in EPC, ICP, utility, substation or renewable energy environments
  • exposure to tendering, pre-construction, and technical due diligence processes
  • ability to manage interfaces between engineering, commercial and delivery teams
