Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this role you will own Mechanical deliverables across a project portfolio, coordinating with designers and suppliers to drive offsite and onsite fabrication and modularisation. You’ll monitor progress, ensure quality and safety, and align mechanical work with overall programmes and budgets. You will also conduct factory inspections and support continuous improvement in delivery and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical designs and installations with civil and electrical elements
• Manage sub-contracts and material orders related to mechanical equipment
• Review supplier proposals and ensure alignment with project requirements
• Engage with supply chain to enhance capabilities for project delivery
• Oversee mechanical installation works ensuring health and safety, technical standards, and quality
• Develop and integrate programmes for mechanical works with the overall project plan
• Monitor cost and schedule performance of mechanical works and participate in production meetings
• Develop and implement quality assurance plans and maintain project documentation
• Plan and execute outage works with minimal disruption
• Collaborate with design and procurement teams to support offsite and onsite delivery

Key requirements

• Mechanical project engineering experience in manufacturing or construction
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
• Commercial acumen
• Experience in pre-production and production mechanical project engineering desirable
• Knowledge of MMC, Lean Construction, Agile Programme Management, Production Thinking or similar approaches desirable
• Able to plan and organise resources on and off site to meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• IT literate
• Minimum HNC in mechanical engineering desirable
• Professional qualification desirable
• SMSTS safety qualification and CSCS card desirable
