Electrical Engineer

Overview

In this role, you will design electrical-automation solutions for mid to large wastewater projects and support tendering, procurement, testing, and commissioning. You’ll work within the Projects Team in Keele or Camberley, collaborating across sales, suppliers, and customers to deliver on-time, cost-conscious electrical systems. The position blends design, documentation, site work, and remote assistance to drive project success and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

• Electrical-automation system design and documentation for standard and customer-specific solutions
• Procurement specification and supplier management for control panels and instrumentation
• Managing electrical subcontractors and on-site electrical installation activities
• Creating/reviewing wiring diagrams from suppliers
• Factory acceptance testing (FAT) of control panels and equipment
• Producing project-specific technical documentation (control philosophy, equipment schedules, O&M manuals)
• Supporting proposals and sales efforts in collaboration with the sales team
• Optimising project costs through design and procurement decisions
• Supporting start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting on-site or remotely
• Performing other electrical engineering duties to achieve project goals

Key requirements

• Experience in a similar Electrical/Automation Engineer role
• Ability to read and modify electrical schematics
• Solid understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals
• Autonomous, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks for multiple stakeholders
• Strong communication skills with customers and internal stakeholders
• Commercial awareness within project environments and ability to provide concise updates
• Structured, organized, and proactive in driving tasks to completion
• Willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland for short-site visits
• Knowledge of motors, VFDs, pumps, flow meters, sensors, and control valves
• Working knowledge of PLC/HMI/SCADA systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and B&R) and related communication protocols
• UK Standards and WIMES familiarity; ATEX/DSEAR beneficial but not mandatory
• HNC/HND in electrical engineering (degree preferred) or equivalent engineering experience
