Overview

In this role you will lead the London Building Surveying function within Gleeds’ Built Asset Solutions, guiding commercial delivery and team performance. You’ll shape client-facing projects from feasibility to post-completion review, while mentoring a high-performing team and collaborating with cross-functional colleagues. Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality building surveying services that meet client requirements
  • Manage building surveying commissions (surveys, dilapidation, party wall, construction projects) from feasibility to handover
  • Prepare and manage planned maintenance programmes
  • Support business unit directors in achieving objectives
  • Proactively develop business and nurture commercial client relationships
  • Provide team leadership, mentoring, and development for technical and non-technical staff
  • Bid management, input, and coordination for tenders and proposals
  • Lead social value initiatives within projects and the unit

Key requirements

  • Broad, in-depth Building Surveying experience post MRICS
  • Strong delivery capability for building surveying tasks
  • Solid knowledge of construction methods, materials, and procurement strategies
  • Ability to administer construction contracts as Contracts Administrator and Employers Agent
  • Understanding of legislation impacting building contracts
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead high-performance teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in ICT (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to negotiate fees to meet services and profit targets
