Broadcast Engineer

Overview

In this role you support QVC UK’s broadcast operations, ensuring reliable, 24/7 broadcast infrastructure and user support. You will analyze escalated incidents, implement standards, and document procedures to enable seamless omni-channel broadcasting. You’ll work closely with the Broadcast Engineering team to optimize systems and deliver high-availability services across on-air, social media, and web streaming platforms. This is a hands-on, on-site role with after-hours support and opportunities to impact live video experiences at scale.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain broadcast infrastructure for video routers, audio mixers, cameras, robotics, switchers, and intercom systems
• Provide root cause analysis for escalated incidents and complex problems in broadcasting systems
• Manage and optimize system performance to ensure 24x7x365 availability
• Develop, document, and enforce standards and procedures for all broadcasting systems
• Support omni-channel broadcasting systems (On Air, Social Media, web streaming) and provide after-hours assistance
• Deliver technical guidance to the Broadcast Engineering team on established broadcasting standards
• Ensure end-user system support and troubleshooting across different operating environments (Windows, Linux)
• Contribute to knowledge base and after-action reports to improve service delivery

Key requirements

• Experience in Broadcast Technology or related technical qualification
• Broadcast Engineering experience
• Proficient with MS Office, including Visio
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient with Windows and Linux operating systems
• Familiar with playout systems, video formats, delivery methods, and platform requirements

• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage escalations
• Collaborative mindset and cross-functional teamwork
• Broadcast technology expertise
• Experience with video routers, audio mixers, cameras, robotics, switchers, intercom systems
• Understanding of playout systems and broadcast workflows
