Junior Electrical Pre-Construction Engineer (Graduate / Junior Engineer)

Salary: £25,000 – £32,000 depending on experience
Most graduate schemes stick you in one box. This one doesn’t.
Design-only graduate roles teach you AutoCAD and not much else. Site-only roles throw you in at the deep end with no context. As Junior Electrical Pre-Construction Engineer, you’ll follow a project from the client’s first sketch, through costing it, right up to the site team taking over so you actually understand how the whole thing fits together.

You’ve just finished (or are about to finish) an Electrical Engineering degree, or you’re already a junior engineer wanting to see more of the picture.
You want to learn design, estimating and delivery not get locked into just one of them before you’ve even tried the others.
You’re comfortable picking up new software and want real projects to practise on, not just training exercises.

What you’ll be doing
– Helping senior engineers develop electrical designs using AutoCAD, Revit and Amtech
– Reviewing architectural drawings and coordinating electrical services layouts
– Producing take-offs from drawings and helping build tender packages
– Issuing quotation requests to suppliers and subcontractors
– Supporting Project Managers with scheduling, risk registers and site handovers
Where you’ll be doing it
The firm designs, builds and maintains electrical systems across the UK and Ireland battery energy storage sites, biogas and anaerobic digestion plants, as well as manufacturing facilities for industrial clients. You won’t be working on the same type of project twice in a row.
What you’ll need
– Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services / Energy (or close to completing), or else for non degree applicants some relevant junior engineering experience
– Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD or Revit
– Willingness to learn Amtech and commercial estimating alongside design work
– A genuine interest in seeing a project through from concept to handover, not just one stage of it
No prior estimating experience needed that’s part of what this role is designed to teach you.
