Geotechnical Engineer

Overview

In this role you will deliver geotechnical and ground investigations for major infrastructure projects. You will work with clients, contractors and project teams from our Nottingham office, with periodic travel to Scotland sites. You’ll translate data into geotechnical recommendations and reports, supporting large-scale delivery with a focus on safety, quality and engineering rigour. The opportunity offers hybrid working and exposure to high-profile projects, enabling long-term development within a growing engineering business.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver geotechnical and ground investigation projects
• Interpret ground investigation data and provide geotechnical recommendations
• Prepare factual and interpretative geotechnical reports
• Analyse site investigation results and develop engineering solutions
• Support the planning and delivery of large-scale infrastructure and construction projects
• Liaise with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders
• Undertake occasional site visits across Scotland to oversee works and assess site conditions
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and quality standards
• Support project delivery through planning, organisation and technical problem-solving
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Previous ground investigation and geotechnical engineering experience
• Experience on large infrastructure, civil engineering or construction projects
• Strong understanding of site investigation techniques and geotechnical reporting
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Full UK Driving Licence
