Supply Chain Manager

Overview

In this role, you will lead supply chain strategy and engagement to support bid wins and project delivery in Scotland for Power T&D. You’ll drive supplier relationships, risk management, and early contractor involvement to optimise design and execution. The position sits in a cross-functional team, ensuring readiness and resilience across bids, delivery models, and commercial targets. This role offers impact across market engagement, governance, and continuous improvement in a dynamic infrastructure environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead supply chain strategy development for bids and projects, aligning with win themes and targets
• Develop and run a Strategic Supplier Relationship Management programme with improvement plans
• Oversee Supplier Performance Management and ensure improvement actions are tracked
• Drive early market engagement and assess capacity, capability, risk, and readiness
• Facilitate Early Contractor Involvement with key partners to optimise design and reduce risk
• Define packaging strategies and supply chain architecture to support market approach
• Provide robust supply chain input into pricing and solution development
• Champion governance, compliance and risk management for supply chain
• Provide reporting on readiness, risks and opportunities for governance gates
• Drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the function
• Support mobilisation readiness and smooth bid-to-delivery transition

Key requirements

• Supply Chain Strategy experience in a project, infrastructure, construction, energy or utilities environment
• Strong supplier relationship management experience with performance improvement focus
• Knowledge of procurement governance, sourcing strategy, risk management and compliance
• Market engagement ability with suppliers and delivery partners
• Stakeholder management across commercial, operational, technical, and bid teams
• Results-focused with track record of delivering against targets
• Problem-solving with initiative and practical solutions
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to diverse stakeholders
• Digital skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with procurement/performance systems desirable
• Relevant business degree; MCIPS or equivalent desirable
• Knowledge of SSEN, SPEN, transmission/distribution or Scottish supply chain markets
