Senior Digital Construction Planner – 4D

Overview

In this role you lead the 4D planning strategy for a major construction programme, integrating 3D design with project schedules to deliver detailed 4D simulations. You will work with cross-functional teams—project planners, design and BIM teams, and contractors—to validate sequences and communicate progression visually. Your work aims to improve buildability, sequencing, and overall project performance through advanced digital construction methods. Responsibilities

• Lead the development and deployment of 4D planning strategies, standards and workflows
• Integrate 3D design models with programme schedules to create 4D sequences and simulations
• Validate sequences with project planners to ensure accurate 4D outputs
• Manage the master 4D model and associated digital workflows
• Identify constraints, risks and opportunities from programmes and sequences
• Produce visual progress reports, forecasts and look-ahead simulations
• Collaborate with Design, BIM and Digital Construction teams to enforce 3D/4D protocols
• Coordinate input from contractors and third parties into the 4D model
• Develop 4D visualisations for logistics, temporary works, access, vehicle movements and site layout
• Lead production of 4D animations and outputs for stakeholders
• Maintain quality procedures for 4D planning and digital construction
• Stay updated on 4D, BIM and emerging construction technologies
• Mentor less experienced team members and promote digital planning capability
• Ensure CDM, health and safety considerations throughout planning and modelling

Key requirements

• Significant construction planning and sequencing experience
• Proven track record developing and managing 4D models on major projects
• Strong understanding of design-to-construction methodology
• Experience with Autodesk and Revit
• Working knowledge of 4D planning software (Synchro, Fuzor and/or Navisworks)
• Knowledge of Asta Powerproject
• Degree or recognised qualification in Construction, Planning, Digital Construction, BIM, Engineering or related field
• Experience integrating programmes with 3D/BIM models
• Ability to interpret complex programmes and sequencing
• Collaborative work with planners, designers, BIM teams and contractors
• Strong communication and presentation skills for clear visual outputs
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proactive, solutions-focused with ability to challenge sequencing
• Understanding of CDM, construction health and safety and industry best practice
• Interest in digital innovation and evolution of 4D planning
