Overview

You will drive business change within large digital transformation programmes, primarily for Defence sector clients. You collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement change plans, refine strategies, and engage stakeholders to enable sustainable transformation. The role focuses on shaping messaging, mentoring junior colleagues, and fostering strong client relationships to deliver measurable outcomes. This is a delivery-oriented, client-facing opportunity in a collaborative, innovative environment with a clear impact on Defence programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain business change plans for Defence transformation programmes with multiple stakeholders
  • Update change management strategies to reflect programme realities and mitigate risks
  • Conduct business change assessments across Defence Lines of Development (DLoDs), including maturity, adoption, and load analyses
  • Utilise visualisation tools to communicate change impacts to diverse stakeholders
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and with external partners, government agencies, and Defence peers to align change messaging
  • Coordinate with the assignment manager to ensure alignment with wider strategic change activities
  • Facilitate workshops and events to inspire teams and produce usable outputs
  • Create change-themed communications for various channels
  • Maintain regular client communication to foster long-term relationships and manage expectations
  • Mentor junior team members and support knowledge transfer
  • Engage with clients within daily commuting range from home

Key requirements

  • Experience delivering change within digital programmes, preferably large transformations
  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships in government and Defence environments
  • Expertise in applying change methodologies and tools
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset with diverse stakeholders
  • Analytical problem-solving and risk management abilities
  • Ability to work at pace and meet tight deadlines
  • Understanding of human-centric change approaches
  • Desirable: prior Defence or similar complex operations experience; consulting environment experience; relevant change management qualification (Digital skills, APMG Change Management, Prosci)
