Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the company’s commercial strategy
- Lead and manage the commercial team, providing guidance, support, and development
- Oversee all commercial aspects of projects from tender through to final account
- Ensure effective cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Manage contract negotiations, procurement, and contractual risk
- Maximise project profitability while maintaining excellent client relationships
- Provide commercial support and advice to the Board and operational teams
- Review and improve commercial processes and procedures
- Support business development, tender submissions, and strategic growth initiatives
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry best practice
Key requirements
- Senior commercial leadership experience within civil engineering, earthworks, or infrastructure sectors
- Strong commercial acumen and sound financial management skills
- Thorough understanding of construction contracts, procurement, and risk management
- Experience managing multiple projects and commercial teams
- Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Proactive, strategic, and solutions-focused approach
- Degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (desirable)
