Overview
In this role you will join the Histopathology Department to support immunocytochemistry and molecular pathology services in a high-volume teaching hospital. You will contribute to diagnostic reporting and service development, including the move toward digital pathology. You will start at band 6 with progression to band 7 upon meeting essential criteria, working within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality diagnostics and improvements.

Responsibilities
- Work as a senior specialist BMS in the immunocytochemistry/molecular pathology services
- Carry out and report solid tumour PCR analyses
- Screen and report breast cancer HER2 FISH cases
- Carry out audits and appraisals and sickness monitoring procedures
- Participate in service development
Key requirements
- MSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent
- HCPC registration
- Specialist Diploma from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) or equivalent
- Advanced specialist knowledge in immunocytochemistry and histopathology techniques
- Understanding of companion diagnostic testing and its delivery
- Working knowledge of microscopic tissue evaluation
- Desirable: understanding of current molecular testing strategies within cellular pathology laboratories
