Job Summary
Our client, a well-established food wholesaler business, is seeking an experienced Buyer to manage the procurement of products and raw materials to support customer demand and business growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining stock availability, developing supplier relationships, negotiating commercial agreements, and identifying new sourcing opportunities within a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Products are sourced globally, including from the UK, Europe, Brazil, and China, requiring strong supplier management and supply chain coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Forecast and identify both short-term and long-term stock requirements.
- Ensure continuous product availability to meet customer demand and prevent stock shortages.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers across global markets.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
- Source new products in response to customer requirements and market demands.
- Research and identify emerging market trends to support business growth and innovation.
- Coordinate inbound logistics and arrange haulage where required.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier information within company systems.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to support operational and customer requirements.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience within the food manufacturing or food industry sector.
- Previous experience in a Buying, Procurement, or Purchasing role within an FMCG environment.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience using ERP or stock management systems.
- Highly organised, confidential, accurate, and reliable.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
