Head of commercial Finance

Overview

As Head of Commercial Finance, you will lead the Commercial Finance function to drive profit growth across the Trading Fund, shaping strategy and delivering actionable insight. You will work closely with board-level stakeholders to influence pricing, cost modelling, and financial planning, balancing commercial decisions with risk management. You will develop financial models, support the Customer Relations directorate, and evaluate commercial initiatives to optimise revenue. This role combines leadership with hands-on analysis in a high-profile, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Commercial Finance team and provide strategic financial guidance across high-value functions
• Own pricing governance, bid investments, and profitability analysis to support commercial decisions
• Develop and maintain cost models, financial forecasts, and corporate planning
• Provide board-level analysis and insights to influence strategy and margins
• Evaluate and optimise commercial initiatives from pricing to profitability
• Support the Customer Relations directorate with financial governance and resources
• Foster internal business relationships and engage external stakeholders to align with strategic objectives

Key requirements

• Exceptional financial modelling and analytical skills with focus on risk and commercial impact
• Confident communicator; builds trusted relationships across teams and partners
• Qualified chartered accountant or demonstrable equivalent QBE
• Ability to engage and influence at Executive Board level
• Proven experience building senior internal relationships and contributing to strategic plans
• Experience negotiating and building strategic external partnerships
• Commitment to personal development and ability to meet tight timelines
• IT literacy with strong MS Excel; knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Customer-facing mindset; forward-looking with long-term expectation management
• Desirable: experience with Oracle Cloud ERP software
