Digital Design Specialist (Mechanical)

Overview

As a Digital Design Specialist (Mechanical) you’ll develop and maintain discipline BIM models in line with the Digital Delivery Plan, collaborating with architects and engineers to deliver accurate, coordinated digital outputs. You’ll produce detailed drawings and ensure model health and standards. This role supports HDR’s mission to enable innovation and sustainable infrastructure through integrated design and cross-discipline collaboration. You will contribute to high-impact projects that shape the built environment and digital delivery for complex facilities.

Responsibilities

• Model and manage discipline BIM elements per the project scope and Level of Development
• Create and maintain discipline models, systems, content, and digital outputs
• Collaborate with architects/engineers for project guidance while applying discipline proficiency
• Accurately model elements using current 3D software within constraints
• Prepare detailed drawings and diagrams within project scope and budget
• Maintain thought-through project information, coordinates, scales, and views in the model
• Produce discipline-specific documentation with precise annotations
• Monitor and improve model health and adherence to company standards
• Coordinate design with other discipline models through reviews and 3D coordination
• Assist with additional Digital Delivery requirements as identified

Key requirements

• Technical degree / HND / HNC or equivalent experience
• Minimum 3 years of related industry experience
• Strong knowledge of Revit and document management (ACC/Forma)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and communication tools
• Experience with 3D coordination tools including ACC/Forma and Navisworks
• Excellent communication, detail orientation, and organization
• Solid understanding of engineering or architectural concepts
• Experience on large or multiple projects
