Senior Bid Writer

Overview

As a Senior Bid Writer, you will lead high-quality responses for PQQs, ITTs and tenders for an international civil engineering contractor. You will partner with Bid Managers, technical specialists and operations to craft client-focused content that showcases technical expertise and competitive advantage. You’ll drive bid quality, ensure compliance and timely delivery under tight deadlines. The role offers the chance to influence major UK infrastructure projects and mentor junior bid writers, within a collaborative Work Winning team.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of written responses for PQQs, ITTs and tender submissions
• Create bespoke, client-focused content aligned with requirements and scoring criteria
• Build and maintain a library of case studies, project experiences and best-practice content
• Edit, proofread and quality check submission documents for consistency and compliance
• Collaborate with Bid Managers, subject matter experts and operations to gather information
• Coordinate planning and finalisation of tender submissions to meet deadlines
• Provide guidance on content strategy and drive improvements to bid processes
• Mentor and support junior bid writers or coordinators

Key requirements

• Proven track record of successful tender submissions in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or related sectors
• Excellent written English and ability to translate technical information into persuasive content
• Experience writing high-quality tender and PQQ responses
• Strong copywriting, editing and proofreading with meticulous attention to detail
• Understanding of public and private sector procurement processes
• Ability to interpret technical information and communicate it clearly
• Strong organisational and project management skills with multiple bids in parallel
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to engage with senior operational and technical teams
• Collaborative, proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset
• Desirable: experience in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or related technical industry
