SHEQ Manager

Overview

As SHEQ Manager, you will lead the health, safety, environmental and quality framework across UK renewable energy and infrastructure projects, including BESS and construction work. You will partner with project teams to ensure regulatory and ISO compliance while embedding a positive safety culture. You’ll drive continuous improvement, lead training and investigations, and ensure robust documentation. This role offers impact across a growing portfolio and a chance to shape SHEQ practices in a dynamic energy sector.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor SHEQ policies, procedures and management systems
• Conduct regular risk assessments, audits and site inspections
• Provide SHEQ guidance, training and toolbox talks to employees and subcontractors
• Support investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
• Monitor environmental and sustainability initiatives across projects
• Keep up to date with legislation, regulatory changes and industry best practice
• Produce accurate SHEQ reports and maintain documentation and records
• Promote and continually improve a strong health, safety, environmental and quality culture
• Work with project teams to embed SHEQ requirements in project planning and delivery
• Provide practical SHEQ support across operational and construction activities

Key requirements

• Previous experience in a SHEQ / HSEQ / HSQE role
• Experience within renewable energy, BESS, construction or civil engineering
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality legislation
• Experience undertaking risk assessments, site inspections and audits
• Knowledge and practical experience of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
• Experience supporting accident and incident investigations
• Strong communication, training and influencing skills
• Excellent report writing and documentation skills
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Ability to work effectively with project teams, site personnel, contractors and senior management
