Job Description:

I’m currently working on behalf of a well-established UK bank to recruit a Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO) for its London-based Financial Crime team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Crime professional to act as the deputy to the MLRO, providing second-line oversight across AML, sanctions, fraud, and wider financial crime compliance activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as deputy to the MLRO and providing leadership during periods of absence
  • Managing internal suspicious activity reports and supporting SAR submissions
  • Oversight of CDD, EDD, high-risk customer reviews, PEP assessments and sanctions screening
  • Leading financial crime monitoring, quality assurance and thematic reviews
  • Producing MI and reporting for senior management and governance committees
  • Supporting regulatory engagement, audits and remediation activity
  • Delivering financial crime advice, training and subject matter expertise across the business

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant AML / Financial Crime Compliance experience within banking or financial services
  • Strong knowledge of AML, CTF, sanctions, CDD/EDD, transaction monitoring and SAR obligations
  • Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent investigative, analytical and report-writing skills
  • Previous experience as a Deputy MLRO, Financial Crime Manager or similar leadership role

Desirable qualifications:

  • ICA Diploma in AML
  • ICA Advanced Certificate
  • ACAMS

This role would suit someone looking to step into a broader DMLRO position with significant exposure to governance, regulatory engagement and strategic financial crime oversight.
