Industrial Placement – Flood Risk Management

Overview

In this 10–12 month internship, you work on real projects from day one, adding value with curiosity and creativity. You will learn from professionals, build your network, and engage in regular leadership-led learning sessions, site visits, and social events that support development. You contribute to flood risk and drainage studies, supported by cross-functional teams. The role offers a clear pathway to future opportunities within Arup, aligned with sustainable development. You will help shape flood risk decisions and gain practical, hands-on experience in a global consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of flood risk, drainage and hydraulic modelling studies for infrastructure and development projects.
• Assist with data collection, analysis and interpretation using GIS and modelling tools.
• Contribute to technical reports, flood risk assessments and client presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, sustainable flood risk solutions.
• Participate in site visits, stakeholder engagements and project meetings while developing professional skills.

Key requirements

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Geography & Geospatial Science or Environmental Engineering
• Experience with coding languages, digital development and use of specialist software is advantageous
