Project Development Manager

Overview

As Project Development Manager you will lead the development of C&I solar PV, BESS and hybrid projects from site identification to construction readiness. You will manage relationships with corporate customers and stakeholders, oversee due diligence, planning, grid connection and feasibility work, and shape project layouts and economics. You will support proposals, commercial structuring and PPAs, coordinate multi-disciplinary workstreams, and guide projects from origination through delivery. This is a growth role with ownership across the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of C&I solar PV, BESS and hybrid energy projects
• Identify and assess suitable commercial and industrial sites
• Manage relationships with corporate customers, landlords, developers, property owners and other stakeholders
• Lead site due diligence, feasibility studies, planning, grid connection and technical assessments
• Develop project layouts, capacity assessments and initial project economics
• Support customer proposals, commercial structuring, PPAs and energy-as-a-service solutions
• Manage external consultants and contractors through the development process
• Coordinate legal, planning, technical and commercial workstreams
• Identify and manage project risks, budgets and development programmes
• Support investment approvals, financing and transition into construction

Key requirements

• Experience developing UK C&I renewable energy or infrastructure projects
• Strong experience in commercial/industrial solar PV and/or BESS
• Understanding of UK planning, grid connection and property processes
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to assess project viability
• Experience working directly with corporate customers or commercial property stakeholders is highly desirable
• Strong project management, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects from origination through to delivery
