We’re looking for a Senior Technician to join our Highway Safety & Protection of Infrastructure (HSPI) team in Nuneaton on a 12-month contract (Inside IR35). This is a hands‑on role supporting the preparation and delivery of vehicle, safety and security testing programmes, while providing day‑to‑day guidance and support to technicians across the facility. You’ll play a key role in ensuring testing activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
This could be an excellent opportunity for someone with a workshop, testing or engineering background who enjoys practical problem‑solving, coordinating activities and working within a dynamic test environment. You’ll have the opportunity to support a wide range of vehicle, safety and infrastructure testing programmes while helping to drive continuous improvement across the facility.
Please note; this role involves working outdoors in all weathers.
Key responsibilities
- Support the preparation of vehicles, test assets and facilities for vehicle, safety and security testing.
- Coordinate daily activities and allocate tasks across the technician team.
- Provide guidance, support and on‑the‑job training to technicians and junior team members.
- Support calibration, maintenance and workshop compliance activities.
- Help maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across the facility.
- Support stock control, equipment readiness and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test methods, facilities and ways of working.
Please note
This is a 12‑month contract (Inside IR35).
Working 39 hours per week.
Rate: Up to £21 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
Roles requires working outside in all weathers
Security clearance will be required for this role due to the nature of work.
Please be aware that interviews for this role will be taking place 6th October 2026 between 0900hrs – 1300hrs at the MIRA Technology Institute.
