Clarity Postmortem Imaging Limited is a specialist provider of post-mortem CT (PMCT) imaging and mortuary services, operating from a purpose-built facility at Snetterton, Norfolk. We deliver a respectful, professional and high-quality service to the deceased and their families, and support coroners, radiologists, pathologists and other professionals involved in the investigation of death.
We are looking for a Mortuary Assistant / Technician to join our team and support the delivery of our mortuary and post-mortem CT services.
The Role
The Mortuary Assistant / Technician will provide practical and technical support across the full range of mortuary activities. You will work as part of a small professional team, assisting with the admission, identification, preparation, examination and safe storage of deceased persons, and supporting radiographers, pathologists and colleagues throughout the post-mortem process.
This is a sensitive and highly responsible role. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain the highest standards of dignity, respect, confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Receiving deceased persons into the facility and assisting with their admission, identification and safe storage in accordance with company procedures.
- Assisting with the release of deceased persons to funeral directors and other authorised parties, including checking identity and completing release documentation.
- Ensuring the correct identification and traceability of all deceased persons throughout their time within the facility.
- Handling and transferring deceased persons safely, respectfully and with dignity.
- Preparing the mortuary, the CT scanning room, equipment and the deceased person for PMCT and external examination.
- Assisting radiographers, pathologists and other authorised professionals during post-mortem CT and external examinations.
- Assisting with the collection, preparation, labelling and secure handling of toxicology, histology and other samples.
- Assisting with the reconstruction of the deceased following invasive examination, where required.
- Preparing the deceased and the viewing room for family viewings and identification, and assisting with these with sensitivity and discretion when they take place.
- Ensuring all specimens and samples are correctly labelled, documented and stored in accordance with procedures.
- Completing mortuary documentation and maintaining accurate records.
- Supporting the safe movement and transfer of deceased persons to and from the mortuary and imaging areas.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection prevention and control.
- Cleaning and preparing equipment and work areas following examinations.
- Following all company policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Reporting any concerns, incidents, equipment defects or identification discrepancies promptly.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality in relation to deceased persons, families, cases and clinical information.
- Treating every deceased person with dignity, respect and professionalism.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties required to support the effective operation of the mortuary and post-mortem service.
