Community CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist – Dartford

Overview

In this role you will lead autonomous psychiatric care for children and adolescents within the Dartford CAMHS Community team. You’ll work across Dartford, Swanley and Gravesham, shaping assessment and treatment for a range of neurodevelopmental and mood disorders. You’ll engage in evidence-based practice, teaching, and service development to improve outcomes for young people and families. A strong focus is on cross-disciplinary collaboration, governance, and delivering high-quality community mental health care. Responsibilities

• Act as an autonomous, registered practitioner accountable for own actions under professional and Trust guidelines
• Maintain GMC registration and licensure to practice
• Advance professional knowledge through accredited courses and in-house training
• Be responsible and accountable for service delivery to clients/patients
• Assess and develop care plans for complex paediatric conditions across acute, chronic, and palliative contexts
• Initiate referrals to other health professionals and agencies as needed
• Provide patients and relatives with information to enable meaningful, dignified choices
• Ensure practice is underpinned by research, evidence-based practice, literature, and peer review

Key requirements

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
• Fully registered with the GMC with Licence to Practise
• On GMC Specialist Register OR within 6 months of completing CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
• Approved Clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
• Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
• Excellent knowledge in paediatric psychiatry and broad mental health expertise
• Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA
• Experience with diverse patient backgrounds and interpreters

• Excellent communication (oral and written) in English
• Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
• Collaborative leadership and teamwork
• Neurodevelopmental assessment (e.g., autism, ADHD)
• Management of a broad range of paediatric psychiatric disorders
• Knowledge of MHA and MCA duties
