Senior Test Engineer (Public Sector)

Overview

In this Lead Test Engineer role you will act as a technical QA lead within a multi-skilled agile team, shaping test strategy and directing automated, manual, and non-functional testing. You’ll coach a small team, influence quality across the product, and collaborate with customers to ensure software meets user needs. The position offers learning opportunities in new technologies while delivering high-quality software ready for promotion. You will contribute to a people-first culture and help drive test excellence at scale.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive test strategy across automated, manual, and non-functional testing
• Design, create, and maintain test scripts and approaches for all application layers
• Lead and coach a small team, manage performance and development
• Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to align quality goals
• Operate in CI environments, configuring tools like Jenkins or TeamCity
• Stay current with QA tools, techniques, and methodologies
• Provide technical leadership and direction for the testing effort

Key requirements

• Experience ensuring adequate testing coverage across testing layers
• Design and maintenance of test scripts for automated and manual testing
• Proficiency with open-source test automation tools (Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, Cypress, Playwright) and CI tools (Jenkins/TeamCity)
• Proficient in at least one OO language (e.g., Java)
• Strong technical awareness and understanding of software architectures
• Experience managing others and conducting performance reviews
