Category Manager (Sourcing) -Public Sector – 55k

Overview

In this role you will lead end-to-end, high-value sourcing in a reclassified public procurement environment. You will develop and deliver category strategies, manage complex tenders, and drive measurable savings while collaborating with senior stakeholders across functions. The position sits within a growing Commercial and Procurement team supported by a multi-billion-pound investment programme and government-backed reform. Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end sourcing projects over threshold
• Develop and deliver sourcing strategies and tender documentation
• Conduct pre-market engagement and complex commercial evaluations
• Negotiate with suppliers and drive savings delivery
• Partner with senior internal stakeholders across multiple functions
• Apply contract law and financial management knowledge to sourcing challenges
• Contribute to continuous improvement and category strategy development

Key requirements

• Public sector procurement experience (essential)
• Over-threshold tendering experience outside of a framework (essential)
• Knowledge of regulated procurement (PCR 2015 / Procurement Act 2023)
• Proven negotiation and senior stakeholder management capability
