Overview

In this role you will lead the technical performance of the Risk Managed unit, shaping underwriting standards and delegated authority frameworks to drive GWP, revenue, and profitability. You’ll own the product suite and ensure quality, competitiveness, and relevance for brokers, coverholders, and clients. You’ll partner with risk, governance, and other stakeholders to embed robust processes, while coaching teams to meet regulatory and standards expectations. Responsibilities

  • Lead and influence the technical performance to achieve P&L targets through proactive management
  • Identify emerging risks, trends, opportunities, and respond with action plans
  • Develop and maintain underwriting frameworks, guidelines and rating structures under delegated authority
  • Contribute to product development and continuous improvement of underwriting systems
  • Set and maintain high standards of technical underwriting and ethical conduct across the team
  • Collaborate with Risk & Governance to allocate authorities and implement audit processes
  • Support audit processes including oversight of delegated authority arrangements
  • Act as referral point for complex/high-value risks beyond individual authorities
  • Build relationships with brokers, insurers and coverholders
  • Lead, coach and develop underwriting teams and ensure succession planning
  • Ensure service standards and compliant handling of complaints
  • Model company values and ensure regulatory and governance compliance

Key requirements

  • Proven underwriting leadership experience in a defined line of business
  • Strong track record of delivering against financial targets
  • Experience operating within delegated authority environments
  • Ability to embed robust processes and technical standards for compliance
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong market awareness to identify growth opportunities
