Project Controls Manager – Defence

Overview

In this role you will lead project controls for Defence programmes across the Midlands, North and Scotland, ensuring accurate plans, cost and performance reporting, and efficient use of controls resources. You will collaborate with PMs to develop realistic plans, secure resources, and maintain data quality across cost and performance systems. The role supports the Defence portfolio with governance and investment planning, contributing to successful, large-scale infrastructure programmes. This is a security-sensitive environment with potential clearance requirements and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the programme controls function for Defence projects across regions
• Monitor and ensure accuracy/consistency of plans, cost, safety, environment and performance reporting
• Allocate controls team resources to programme needs
• Review new project proposals/remits to develop deliverable plans
• Identify and resolve resourcing requirements with planning functions
• Provide day-to-day reporting support to Programme and Project Managers
• Ensure data input to cost/performance systems meets data standards
• Produce the Investment Plan and comply with the Investment Competence Framework

Key requirements

• Experience in planning and scheduling (schedule development, control, analysis)
• Proficiency in PC operating systems and basic software
• Proficiency in Primavera (P6) and Microsoft Office Applications
• Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up processes
• Knowledge of engineering and construction management
• Security clearance or ability to obtain/maintain clearance
