Materials & Logistics Manager

Overview

In this Materials & Stores Manager role, you will ensure materials, spares and stock are available to support planned and reactive maintenance in a safety-critical engineering environment. You will manage procurement, supplier performance and inventory within budget, while upholding HSE and COSHH compliance. You’ll work with maintenance planning and environmental targets, using Maximo or an equivalent system. This role offers impact by strengthening material flow and cost control in a high-stakes setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily materials, stores and stock control
• Procure spares, equipment and materials aligned with maintenance needs
• Oversee supplier performance, quality and delivery
• Obtain quotations and negotiate pricing
• Maintain inventory and procurement records using Maximo or equivalent
• Manage the engineering materials budget within delegated authority
• Develop strategies for obsolete materials and replacement spares
• Maintain COSHH records and support H&S compliance
• Monitor recycling and environmental targets
• Support engineering planning and safety meetings
• Safely load/unload deliveries and operate relevant vehicles/equipment

Key requirements

• Experience in procurement, materials or stores management
• Knowledge of stock control and planned maintenance systems (ideally Maximo)
• Experience in safety-critical engineering or operational environment
• Desirable: transport, rail or marine engineering experience
• Strong supplier, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to prioritise procurement and meet tight deadlines
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
• Knowledge of vessel/boat operations and engineering principles (advantage)
