Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer – Wimbledon, London

Overview

In this role you will help build and operationalize a new devops-focused infrastructure team for a fintech client. You will automate delivery of infrastructure components, contribute to platform design, and drive reliability across Windows-based systems on AWS. You will collaborate with operations, development, and security stakeholders to scale automation and improve provisioning, OS builds, and monitoring. This fast-moving, merit-driven environment rewards ownership and rapid progression, with exposure to modern cloud and on-prem technologies.

Responsibilities

• Operate, design, and manage computing, network and storage infrastructure with security, performance, and availability as priorities
• Act as Technical Authority for all infrastructure services
• Design, deliver, automate, operate and manage platform servers (physical and virtual)
• Manage platform storage systems and capacity planning
• Develop operating system build processes
• Design and operate end-to-end platform monitoring systems
• Advance the DevOps function alongside engineers, developers and stakeholders
• Automate infrastructure delivery components (OS build, provisioning, upgrades)
• Support automation of helpdesk, security, or 365/AD/cloud tasks as applicable

Key requirements

• 3 years’ experience with Windows systems and automation
• Powershell scripting
• Knowledge of Windows DSC
• Strong technical leadership experience
• Experience automating tasks and documenting processes
• Virtualisation experience (Hyper-V and SCVMM)
• Microsoft platforms including Windows Server 2008R2/2012R2, IIS 7/8
• Good TCP/IP and OSI understanding
• Active Directory usage
• Enterprise server estates including blade systems and high-density servers
• Enterprise networking including Cisco
• Office 365, AWS or Azure experience
