Fire Safety Lead

Overview

In this role you lead the Fire Safety Team and own the Fire Safety Management System across the Trust. You will be the main liaison with Fire and Rescue Services, guiding audits and visits, and ensuring compliance with fire safety policies. You’ll oversee risk assessments, training, evacuations, and incident investigations while shaping Trust-wide fire safety strategies. Responsibilities

• Act as the Trust’s designated Fire Safety Lead and oversee all fire safety risks
• Support the Responsible Person under the Fire Safety Order 2005 and ensure policy implementation
• Oversee Fire Safety Risk Assessments process and related actions
• Monitor compliance and provide expert fire safety advice to stakeholders
• Lead development and maintenance of fire safety policies and procedures
• Report Fire Safety compliance to relevant meetings/committees
• Manage fire evacuation drills and PEEPs/site-wide fire strategies
• Investigate near misses, incidents and serious events and report findings

Key requirements

• NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Fire and/or Health & Safety or equivalent senior qualification
• Significant NHS experience
• Experience of managing a team and budget
• Experience with fire safety risk assessments/audits and policy development
• Knowledge of fire safety legislation including RRO and relevant HTM

• Able to write and present reports clearly
• Excellent IT skills
• Able to prioritise and meet deadlines
• Fire safety legislation knowledge (RRO, Fire Code, HTM)
• Experience with fire safety risk assessment software
• Experience in developing fire safety strategies and policies
