About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly analytical Senior Power Systems Analyst to join their dedicated team in Randburg . This role is central to ensuring the stability, reliability, and efficiency of the electricity grid by performing complex technical studies and providing expert insights. You will analyze grid performance, model potential scenarios, and advise on infrastructure development and operational strategies. The ideal candidate possesses a strong quantitative background, deep expertise in power system modeling, and a commitment to advancing the energy sector through rigorous technical analysis. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, transient stability , and voltage stability analysis.
- Develop and validate sophisticated power system models using industry-standard software.
- Analyze the impact of new generation sources (including renewables) and network upgrades on grid performance.
- Assess system reliability and security, identifying potential risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to engineering teams, management, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of planning criteria, operating procedures, and grid interconnection standards.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in power system analysis, modeling, and simulation.
- Expert proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT, ETAP).
- Strong understanding of grid codes , regulatory frameworks, and power market operations.
- Proven ability to perform complex dynamic simulations and interpret results accurately.
- Excellent analytical, report writing, and presentation skills.
