Responsibilities

• Lead a defined client team or workstream through ambiguity to a value-based outcome
• Understand client context quickly, structure problems, and identify key decisions
• Develop pragmatic architecture options balancing value, user needs, cost, risk and time to value
• Produce architecture outputs: current/target views, options, principles, roadmaps, guardrails, high-level designs
• Translate business capabilities into application and technology implications with cross-functional teams
• Provide constructive challenge and governance to ensure alignment with principles and strategy
• Use AI to accelerate research and artefact creation with appropriate validation and controls
• Bring in specialist expertise when deeper data, security, cloud, or infrastructure knowledge is required
• Build trusted relationships and communicate recommendations to technical and business audiences
• Contribute to practice development, proposals, and collaboration across Technology and Business Consulting

Key requirements

• Practical experience as Solution Architect, Application Architect or developing Enterprise Architect
• Experience across multiple solution areas: modernisation, integration, digital platforms or transformation
• Consulting mindset: structure ambiguous problems, form hypotheses, compare options, recommend
• Strong written and verbal communication to explain complex tech to senior stakeholders
• Critical thinking and architecture assurance with risk-focused judgment
• Working knowledge of modern application architecture, APIs, integration, cloud patterns, DevOps, agile
• Ability to advise on cloud direction and trade-offs without being a specialist cloud engineer
• Experience creating architecture models and decision artefacts; familiarity with UML/ArchiMate useful
• Commercial awareness: how architecture impacts delivery cost, risk, pace and maintainability
• Curiosity about AI and emerging technology; know when to involve specialists
