Child Care Officer

Overview

In this role you will support children and young people with complex health and care needs at Canons House, helping them access enjoyable activities and participate in care planning. You will work closely with health professionals, social workers and schools to ensure stability, belonging and positive well-being. You will conduct risk assessments, prepare reports and attend planning meetings, contributing to a holistic approach to each child’s development. This is a frontline role with meaningful impact on vulnerable families within a supportive council environment.

Responsibilities

• support vulnerable children with complex health and personal care needs
• facilitate access to activities and experiences aligned with individual interests
• participate in care planning, risk assessment and support
• collaborate with health care professionals, social workers, schools and other agencies
• generate reports, attend reviews and planning meetings
• conduct regular school and home visits
• participate in shortlisting and interviews as part of recruitment process

Key requirements

• NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
• compassion and empathy

• current UK professional registration
