Can you turn your medical expertise to some of the most important questions in UKmedicine?The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) is the tribunal service for doctors,AAs and PAs in the UK. Our tribunals make independent decisions about whetherregistrants are fit to practise medicine. We are a statutory committee of the GeneralMedical Council (GMC) operating separately from the investigatory role of the GMCand we are accountable to the Council of the GMC and the UK Parliament.Tribunals are made up of registrant and lay (ie non-registrant) tribunal members. You will demonstrate integrity, sound judgement and strong analytical skills, which youwill apply when making impartial and unbiased decisions that help protect the publicand affect the lives of registrants.Our hearing centre is based in Manchester, and you must have the flexibility tosupport hearings that take place there in addition to supporting our virtual hearings.A daily fee of 325 is payable, plus reasonable expenses.We welcome applications from doctors of all backgrounds, in particular those withprotected characteristics as it is important that our tribunals are representative ofthe UK public that we seek to protect. As aRegistrant Tribunal Member, you need to be a doctor registered with the GMC andhold a licence to practise- if you are at a point in your career where you arereviewing your need for a LtP, get in touch so we can discuss options.To meet our hearing requirements, we would ask that applications are only madewhere you can provide availability to sit for at least 35 days each year in blocks of atleast 10 consecutive days at a time.To discover more and apply, visit our appointments page on our website.
