HireIQ are delighted to be working with a fast-growing global Finance Advisory business who are seeking a meticulous, proactive and commercially curious Accounts Assistant to join their remote-first team. Working closely with Finance Managers, you will support multiple client accounts and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial data while gaining exposure across bookkeeping, management accounts, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting and commercial analysis.
About the Job
As an Accounts Assistant, you will support a portfolio of fast-moving eCommerce and omnichannel clients, ensuring their financial information is accurate, up to date and providing a strong foundation for reporting and decision-making. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to a broad range of finance activities within a modern, cloud-based finance environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Client-facing:
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly bookkeeping tasks for designated clients, ensuring financial data is accurate, reconciled and up to date.
- Review client finance functions and identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and automation.
- Reconcile bank, payment gateway and merchant accounts, including Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, Klarna and Amazon.
- Support the preparation and delivery of management accounts packs, including commentary where appropriate.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly cash flow reporting.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling activities.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis relating to pricing, cost management and margin improvement.
- Proactively communicate with clients to ensure they are kept informed and queries are dealt with efficiently.
- Contribute to process automation and efficiency improvements using cloud-based finance tools.
Internal responsibilities:
- Ensure client invoicing is accurate and completed on a timely basis.
- Support credit control processes and help maintain strong working capital positions.
- Assist with ensuring financial processes and documentation are standardised and well documented.
- Respond to internal team requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Contribute ideas for continuous improvement across the business.
- Uphold company values and represent the brand professionally at all times.
Previous experience
Essential:
- 3+ years experience in a hands-on finance or accounts role, such as bookkeeping, AP, AR or reconciliations.
- Part-qualified accountant, such as AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Outstanding attention to detail with a strong interest in numbers and processes.
- Experience using cloud-based finance tools, such as Xero, Dext, A2X, Shopify or Stripe.
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and formulas.
- Good understanding of basic financial statements, including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
- Proactive approach with a willingness to improve processes, streamline work and learn.
- Comfortable working effectively within a fast-paced, fully remote environment.
Desirable:
- Experience within eCommerce, retail, marketplace or wholesale businesses.
- Knowledge of accounting standards relevant to SMEs.
- Experience working with scale-ups or multi-entity businesses.
- Previous exposure to financial modelling or budgeting.
