Business Development Manager – Manchester
£60k+ Package – 360 Business Development Role in Manchester
Are you a proven new business salesperson who enjoys building your own pipeline, winning new clients and taking ownership of the full sales process?
We’re working with a rapidly growing, international professional services business that is looking to strengthen its Manchester sales team with ambitious Business Development Managers.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with ~18 months of genuine closing/360 experience who wants a role with strong earning potential, structured training and a clear route into senior sales positions.
The Opportunity
This is a 360 business development role.
You won’t simply be handed a pipeline of warm leads. Around 80% of your opportunities will be self-generated, so you’ll be responsible for identifying prospects, building relationships, running meetings and ultimately closing new business.
You’ll be selling a consultative B2B service to businesses across the UK and Ireland, working with senior decision-makers and helping them identify opportunities around innovation, R&D and government incentives.
The sales environment is fast-paced, with relatively short sales cycles and a strong focus on activity, pipeline generation and results.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and manage your own pipeline of new business opportunities.
- Identify and prospect potential clients through outbound activity and targeted research.
- Cold call and engage senior decision-makers, including C-suite stakeholders.
- Run discovery and sales meetings to understand client requirements.
- Present and communicate the value of the company’s services clearly and confidently.
- Manage opportunities through the full sales cycle, from initial prospecting through to close.
- Negotiate and close new business.
- Maintain accurate records and manage your pipeline through Salesforce.
- Work closely with internal consulting, technical and delivery teams following the sale.
- Maintain ownership of the client relationship through the handover process, ensuring momentum is maintained.
- Consistently work towards monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets.
- Develop your knowledge of different industries and identify new opportunities within the market.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is commercially driven, resilient and genuinely enjoys new business sales.
You’ll ideally have:
- At least 12 months of genuine closing / full 360 sales experience.
- A proven track record of generating your own pipeline.
- Experience managing the sales process from prospecting through to close.
- Confidence speaking with senior/C-suite decision-makers.
- A strong understanding of your own sales performance and KPIs.
- Experience working to revenue and activity targets.
- The ability to manage multiple opportunities and maintain a healthy pipeline.
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach.
- The resilience to handle rejection and keep prospecting.
- The adaptability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume sales environment.
The commission structure rewards both consistent activity and high-value sales, with uncapped monthly commission, quarterly kicker bonuses and an annual performance-related bonus.
Package
- Uncapped commission
- £5,400 car allowance for eligible candidates
- Cycle to work scheme
- Reward Gateway with discounts across gyms, holidays and other lifestyle benefits
- £2,000 annual personal learning/development budget
Progression
Career progression is a major part of the opportunity.
High-performing BDMs can progress into senior roles within around 12–18 months.
The business has a strong track record of developing people internally, so this is particularly suited to someone who is ambitious and wants to build a long-term sales career.
Why Join?
You’ll be joining a well-established, international and growing business with the pace and entrepreneurial feel of a start-up, but the stability of an established organisation.
The business operates across multiple countries and continues to invest in new products, territories and people.
The Manchester office has a sociable and collaborative culture, with regular socials, team activities, run clubs and wider company events.
You’ll also receive structured onboarding and ongoing sales training, with significant investment in your professional development.
Interested?
If you’re an ambitious salesperson who enjoys winning new business, building relationships and closing deals, this could be an excellent next step.
