Group Financial Controller (PE-Backed)
Location: Northern Ireland / Regional UK (Hybrid)
The Role
A high-impact opportunity for a Fully Qualified Accountant to lead the financial control function for a fast-growing business backed by top-tier institutional infrastructure investors. This is a career defining role!
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take full ownership of high-quality investor reporting, day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, statutory compliance, and debt covenant management.
Key Responsibilities
- Institutional Investor & Board Reporting
Fast Month-End Close:Drive a high-speed reporting cycle to deliver data-dense board packs within tight timelines (typically 5 to 7 working days).
Core Sponsor Deliverables:Produce monthly board packs, variance analysis (Actuals vs. Sponsor Model vs. Budget), 13-week rolling cash flow forecasts, and debt covenant tracking.
Key Operational Metrics:Monitor and report on core asset performance metrics, including Operational EBITDAper site, yield per tonne of input, uptime percentages, and Return on Invested Capital (ROIC).
Exit Readiness:Maintain clean audit trails, maintainable earnings schedules, and “data-room ready” financials for future refinancing or exit events.
Financial Control & Operations
Financial Control & Consolidations:Lead group financial consolidations across multiple operating entities under UK GAAP / FRS 102 (or IFRS).
Audit & Statutory Compliance:Manage external audit relationships, statutory reporting, and maintain strict financial controls.
Cash & Treasury Management:Oversee group liquidity, cash flow monitoring, and working capital requirements.
Team Leadership:Manage, mentor, and develop the core finance team to ensure operational efficiency.
Candidate Requirements
Qualification:Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ICAEW / CAI / ICAS or equivalent).
Experience:Proven track record in a Private Equity or fast-paced corporate environment.
Core Skills: Advanced technical accounting, group consolidations, fast-close processes, institutional reporting standards, and team leadership.
