Senior Design Engineer
Our client is expanding its engineering teams in response to continued growth, new product development and increased production capacity. The successful Senior Design Engineer will develop new and existing mobile recycling machinery, contributing innovative solutions across design, manufacturing, testing and product improvement. This is a strong opportunity for a Design Engineer who is ready to take the next step up into a senior role.
Based in the Derry/Londonderry area, the role is primarily site based, with the opportunity to work from either of two local facilities. This provides close collaboration with engineering, production, purchasing and supplier teams, alongside practical exposure to the machinery and its applications.

The Role:
* Develop new products and modifications to existing mobile recycling machinery.* Apply QFD, FMEA, design for manufacture, prototype development and field testing standards.* Ensure products meet required standards for safety, function and reliability.* Improve designs to reduce manufacturing costs, working with production, purchasing and suppliers.* Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly.* Apply current component technology and competitor insights to product development.
The Person:
* Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering.* Experience using 3D solid modelling CAD, ideally CREO, and familiarity with PDM systems.* Strong knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems.* Experience in mobile tracked equipment or recycling machinery is advantageous.* Creative, innovative and able to identify technical and commercial risks.* Effective communicator who can collaborate across multifunctional teams and meet deadlines.* A Design Engineer looking to step up into a senior role would be well suited to this opportunity.* Experience with Oracle TMS is advantageous.
