Project Engineer

Overview

In this Project Engineer role, you will plan and deliver site works within railway settings, covering installation, testing, commissioning and configuration across radio, fibre and transmission disciplines. You will collaborate with the Work Package Manager, design engineers and specialists to develop and implement project plans. The position is based in Waterloo with a hybrid office presence. You will help ensure safe, compliant execution and high-quality delivery across the Connect telecoms network for Transport for London. Responsibilities

• Assess access requirements and arrange necessary permissions for planned works
• Write work instructions, risk assessments and method statements identifying hazards and safe systems of work
• Allocate competent staff to planned works within budgets
• Produce installation, testing and commissioning estimates for new projects
• manage and resolve on-site quality issues (snags and NCRs)
• Manage materials including call-offs
• Procure and manage labour subcontracts
• Perform periodic site inspections to monitor progress

Key requirements

• Experience planning works in railway environments (London Underground and/or Network Rail)
• Foundation knowledge in telecoms or related disciplines
• Ability to interpret technical documents into clear work instructions
• Experience using digital tools to maintain project records
• Understanding of APM Project Management framework
• Safety-licenses related to railway environments (on track, equipment rooms, etc.)
• Strong stakeholder management and organisational skills
• Ability to prioritise and manage shifting workloads
