Working as the psychologist providing input to Juniper Ward (our adult acute unit) you will work as part of the ward team and provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy, group programmes, as well as consultation training and support to ward staff. You will also be responsible for supervising the ward Assistant Psychologist.
The ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams will be essential to developing your role. You will need to be well organised with the ability to prioritise your work according to clinical need and liaise effectively with team colleagues and other professionals.
The post is available as either an 8a post or as a Band 7/8a developmental post, dependent on experience. You will be supported in your role by the Head of Psychological therapies and the Divisional Inpatient Lead Psychologist.
North Somerset PTS services work across all community, acute and inpatient services within North Somerset. The service is staffed by a multidisciplinary team comprising of clinical psychologists, arts psychotherapists, family therapists, CBT therapists and psychotherapists. We are a friendly and supportive team, who are highly valued within local services.
- To provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy and group programmes service users and their families on Juniper Ward.
- To provide highly specialist advice and consultation on clients’ formulation and psychological management to other non-psychologist colleagues.
- To use highly specialist psychological knowledge and skills to contribute to the more effective management of patients by the multidisciplinary team on Juniper ward.
- To clinically supervise/line manage trainee clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists, Clinical Associate Psychologists (CAPs) and less experienced psychology staff, and other professionals.
- To contribute to audit, research, policy and service development
- To develop and deliver training in psychological therapies for multidisciplinary staff.
