Project Management Lead (PML) – Scotland & Northern Ireland

Overview

In this hybrid leadership role, you guide Stantec’s project management community across Scotland and Northern Ireland to deliver major water and infrastructure programs. You will lead and mentor PMs, manage governance and commercial processes, and directly influence project outcomes on high-visibility frameworks with Scottish Water. Expect hands-on delivery on key projects, collaboration with global delivery resources, and shaping safer, more efficient delivery culture. You’ll drive financial performance and client relationships while supporting business growth and resilience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Project Managers and maintain competency matrices
• Ensure compliance with PMF and SOX; oversee monthly project reviews and contract administration (NEC, early warnings, compensation events, payments)
• Monitor project commercial, quality, and risk positions; own turnaround plans for distressed projects
• Foster collaboration between PMs and Project Technical Leads; coordinate with Global Delivery Centre for resourcing
• Lead HSSE audits and promote SaferTogether culture across project teams

Key requirements

• Proven project management leadership experience in the UK water/infrastructure sector
• Strong knowledge of NEC and governance/SOX frameworks
• Financial and risk management skills with experience in budgets, earned value, pricing, and contracts
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to coach project teams
• Resilience and problem-solving ability in challenging projects
